The Last 4 Years

In our first term, we’re just getting started

    • Purchased 30-acre “Downtown” site for 12.5 million cash so that Rohnert Park can develop its own Downtown. We are now poised to select a developer and begin moving dirt.

    • Four years of balanced budgets with fully funded reserve funds while expanding services to our residents.

    • Successfully negotiated 4-year favorable bargaining agreements with all our unions to include 10% pay raises over that period of time.

    • Three years of balanced budgets with over 10 million surpluses (each year) fully funded all reserve funds.

    • Applied for and received 15 million in grants to build Rohnert Park's first Roundabout, FEMA water retention basin grant, and complete streets grant to improve roadways in disadvantaged communities.

    • Developed 9 programs to increase accountability and transparency in law enforcement, including a community public safety roundtable and an independent audit of public safety.

    • Launched SAFE (Specialized Assistance For Everyone) as an alternative public safety response to residents suffering from mental health crises.

    • Successfully navigated COVID, bringing testing and vaccination clinics to our community center, forgave or restructured water bills for struggling residents.

    • Banned Fireworks.

    • Applied for, received, and constructed a 60-unit temporary supportive housing unit from State Project Home Key (14.6 million grant), now serving 70 formerly unhoused residents of Rohnert Park.

    • Successfully cleared 82 homeless encampments, including the Robert’s LastSafe Camping program, and have provided permanent or temporary supportive housing to all those suffering from lack of shelter.

    • Successfully built housing and community, including over 300 units of affordable workforce housing for our residents receiving the prestigious pro-housing designation from the State of California.

    • Poised to build Rohnert Park’s first Supportive Services Hub so that residents in need can access the services they require before they become homeless.

    • Developed General Plan Elements on Climate Change and social, Racial, and Environmental Justice.

    • Signed the Climate Emergency.

    • Banned Gas Stations and petroleum infrastructure.

    • Hired new City Manager.

    • Paid down 27 million in unfunded contingency liabilities (PERS).

    • Successfully renegotiated our Memorandum of Understanding with the Federated Indians of Groton Rancheria, keeping intact our 13.3 million-dollar annual mitigation offset.
